Martin Short on Broadway: Fame Becomes Me previously titled Martin Short: If I'd Saved, I Wouldn't Be Here will no longer play in Boston. The show has canceled its Colonial Theatre tryout, which was scheduled for November 29 through December 18, because it conflicted with Short's filming dates for The Santa Clause 3.
Martin Short on Broadway: Fame Becomes Me, which is not a one-man show, combines musical comedy sketches and dance numbers. Filling the stage with unforgettable characters like Jiminy Glick, Ed Grimley and many others, Short brings over 20 years of comic genius to the stage. The production features songs and a script by Short and the Hairspray songwriting team of Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman. Wittman will direct.
The show will still play in Chicago, but dates for that engagement originally set for for December 21, 2005 through January 08, 2006 are still to be determined. Short and his show are expected to come to Broadway in the spring.
